Hey Skaters!
Here is as promised, the second newsletter of the Ascension Skate 2009! , which provides you with
more details on the tour and information on how to register for this tour.
Gathering:
The gathering starts on Wednesday 20th of May from 16.00 at “Camping de Maasplas” in Aalst.
This gives everybody the time to set up there tents and grease up the wheels for the coming days.
After that there might be some time to have a drink and a chat with some fellow skaters.
The tour:
The skating starts the next day. The total distance of the tour is about 260 km over four days, but can
be decreased to a minimum of 180 km by taking short cuts.
We will skate in groups of approximately 10 skaters. Each group has its own guide. There are 3
different group speeds, where 1 is fast, 2 is average and 3 is tranquil.
During the tour you are free to change groups, if you are not comfortable with current group speed.
The group shuffles take place at the end of the day.
During the ride the service car supplies us with some refreshing (energy) drinks and a snack. We will
meet the service car several times a day. The lunch breaks are planned at strategic points on the
route. Here you can buy yourself a meal and a drink, to survive it to the end of the trip .
Conditions:
For having a save and fun full journey there are some conditions on joining on this event. First of all
you must be able to brake. The second condition is that you have to be able to skate on an average
speed of approximately 18 km/h. A helmet is necessary during skating. Participating on this tour is at
your own risk.
There is a minimum of 40 participants needed to organise the tour. The maximum number of
participants is 90.
Cost:
The cost of the event is ? 150, -- p.p. which includes a 4 night stay at the campsite, breakfast, snacks
and drinks served by the service car during the tour, a BBQ at Saturday evening and a tour
remembrance.
Registration:
We will ask you for your preferred group-speed and distance. We use this indication to form groups
for the first day and to plan the number of short cut guides needed. Each day you can decide to take
the long or short distance.
It is now possible to register for the tour! Go to the website: www.walknroll.eu and fill out the
registration form.
After you have registered, a message with an invoice-number and paying instructions will be send to
you by email. This is a manual process, which means that it can take one to two days before getting a
response.
When you get this invoice-number a place has been reserved for you. Your payment has to be
received within 20 days. As soon as we received your payment, your registration is final. A
confirmation will be send to you by email.
It is not possible to get a refund, but you can switch places with somebody else. If you like to switch
places with somebody else, please contact us. We advise you to get an insurance to cover the risk of
cancelation. Book your journey after you have received the confirmation of your registration.

Думаю слетать до Дюссельдорфа и обратно или до Брюсселя и обратно.
А еще хочется покатать по немецкой роллерной трассе, так что, скорее всего Дюссельдорф и + пару дней после СФ в Германии.
рад был бы видеть все прошлогодние морды , кстати, некоторые так и не забрали фильм про себя, невзирая на мои настойчивые предложения.

Насчет поездки пока не знаю - кризис добрался и до меня, и ухватил своей холодной костлявой лапой за загривок. Буду решать ближе к событию. Почти наверняка поеду если будет Рандо и можно будет совместить.

Сегодня же получил счет на 150 евров, до 18 марта.
В зависимости от подтягивающегося наролла и экономической ситуации буду принимать решение числа 15 марта.
We are glad to announce that there will be a FinLine skating event next summer too!
FinLine 2009 will take place from Sunday 28 of June to Saturday 4 of July. This time FinLine will be skated in south western Finland starting from Helsinki and ending till Pori. The route is not very hilly. Let’s say it is not as flat as last summer, but not as hilly at all as it was in summer 2007 or 2006. The daily skating distances will be 60 - 80 km and the total amount of kilometres during the week will be around 400. There is, however, a service bus following the skaters all the time and it enables you to choose the amount of skating days as well as the daily skating kilometres. I.e. if you y don't want to skate the whole skating distance some day, you can take a bus instead and keep company with Ari, our nice bus driver!
Depending of the number of skaters there will be 3 - 6 skating groups going at the different speed. Thus you can choose a suitable group to yourself and it is also possible to change the group whenever, according to you skating feelings.
The maximum number of participants is 20 and the minimum number of participants is 10. I.e. FinLine 2009 is subject to 10 participants in order to cover the costs of the arrangements.

Sunday 28.6. Helsinki – Lohja 59 km
Monday 29.6. Lohja – Salo 75 km
Tuesday 30.6. Salo – Turku 58 km
Wednesday 1.7. Turku-luistelu 50 +
Thursday 2.7. Turku – Säkylä 62 km
Friday 3.7 Säkylä – Pori 84 km
Total 338 km + skating kilometres in Turku
1.7. (about 50 km)
Saturday 4.7. Bus transportation from Pori to Helsinki
Accomodation and food
Dormitory accommodation including breakfasts and dinners are booked by the organisers utilising affordable and different places by the route. I.e. during some night we will stay at a hotel, but some other night we will stay in a holiday centre, summer cottage and so. Our service bus is following the skaters all the time giving juice and water, and also some snacks (fruits, biscuits, pickled cucumber) during the breaks, but otherwise (e.g. lunch) the skaters have to take care of their food.
What does it cost?
The participation fee is 150 euros including the services of the bus, transportation of your equipment during the skating, a technical t-shirt, and the bus transportation back to Helsinki from Pori on the last day. In addition you have to pay a membership fee to the Street Gliders for 2009 that is 25 euros.
Furthermore there are the costs of the dinners and accommodations (including breakfasts) , about 40 - 50 euros per day.
The Street Gliders’ aim is not to make a profit on the FinLine skating event. The only goal is to cover the real costs of the arrangements by the participation fee. If the participation fee turns to be too high compared to the costs, the surplus will be credited to participants during the trip. I.e. depending on the number of participants the accommodation costs of the last night can be paid by Street Gliders.

After registration we will send you payment instructions in a few days. Immediately after receiving the payment instructions you must pay the Street Gliders' membership fee (if not already paid for this year) as well as the FinLine participation fee to confirm your registration. Note that there is a minimum number of registrations needed before the event is confirmed. Please wait for the confirmation of the event before booking any flights etc. that cannot be refunded.
Вряд ли питаться самому - хорошая идея. Как правило, приезжаешь довольно уставший и хочется отдохнуть.
А тут ищи еду, еще не дай бог готовь.
НА СкейтФреше самый крутой ужин евров в 15 обходился.
Жить в палатке - по мне - вполне нормально, тем более с нормальным спальником и самонадувающимся ковриком. Я в прошлом году не поленился взять толстый самонадувающийся и ни разу не пожалел. Высыпаешься как человек, а на пенке - жестковато.
В общем, мне достаточно душа и места для палатки, поэтому жаль переплачивать за гостиницу.
Хотя, я пока не отбрасываю и идею покататься с финскими парнями, тем более, та пара поджарых пацанов, которая раньше всех ставила палатку - сильно поколебала мои киношные представления о медлительных и неповоротливых финнах.
